The walker-friendly ING NYC Marathon is one of the biggest in the world, and also one of the most congested with over 45,000 participants. To combat the problem of congestion at the finish in Central Park, they will have a No Baggage Policy for the November, 2012 race. Most races offer a bag drop so participants can place extra clothes, snacks and other items they may need before the race and after the race. But the race officials say this resulted in over a mile walk after the finish to get through the bag check area and out of Central Park. Without a bag check, they plan to have racers exit 30 minutes sooner.
