Pedometers Motivate More Walking and Lower Blood Pressure

I'm not surprised that an Australian study found that the pedometer was twice as effective. In their study, participants increased their walking by almost 50 minutes a week if they got the pedometer, and 28 minutes with just the time goal. Both groups saw an improvement in blood pressure. Not surprisingly, they didn't lose weight. That small amount of activity is a step in the right direction, but 60 minutes per day is what is recommended for weight loss.
